Since the day following the armed attack against the Police Patrol Service Regiment area various demonstrations have been randomly held in the area neighboring the Khorenatsi Street. As we have previously mentioned, during the demonstration on 20 July a group of people with an obviously aggressive predisposition had attacked police officers with stones and other subjects that they had brought, they had hit them, trying to take away their special uniforms which resulted in almost five dozens of people being injured.
The police of the RA had to undertake special measures in order to stop the disorders as well as to prevent the danger that could risk people’s lives and health. Apart from this, in the scope of the criminal case initiated on the armed attack against the Police Patrol Service Regiment area reliable facts had been attained proving that the members of the armed group were giving direct instructions and guidance to people living abroad to organize and carry out criminial activities that could endanger citizens’ life and health, in addition to causing and spreading panic and provoking clashes.
For instance, one of the members who was arrested on 20 July had attempted to bring a grenade to the blocked area of Khorenatsi, however his criminal activities were stopped before he could reach the place and on 22 of July another arrested member had tried to take explosive bottles filled with petrol and oil (“Molotov cocktail”) to the same place.
There are also reliable facts proving that the bottled explosives were supposed to break the police chain in the Khorenatsi Street in order to reach the place where special measures were undertaken to take away the weapons stolen by the armed group.
Taking into the account the above-mentioned facts, the RA Police states that there is a real danger of drastic exacerbation of the tension in the Khorenatsi Street which can have unpredictable consequences.
Therefore, there is no way to prevent the danger for the life and health of the members of demonstrations and the public security other than to take the demonstration into another place. Therefore, the RA Police demands that the real organizers of the demonstration shortly change the place of the demonstration to a place where it would be possible for the RA Police to ensure the safety of the participants.
Otherwise, the Police will be left with no other choice than to stop the demonstration in the manner prescribed by law.
