President Serzh Sargsyan received today members of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and CSTO Secretary General who have arrived to Armenia to participate at the Yerevan session of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs which is conducted in the framework of Armenia’s presidency at the CSTO.
We learn from the president’s staff that the President of Armenia welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of the session which is aimed at the enhanced efficiency of the one of important elements of the CSTO activities – coordination of foreign policy of the CSTO member states. Noting that so far in Yerevan there have taken place sessions of the Military Committee and the Committee of the Secretaries of the Security Council which discussed issues related to the improvement of the mechanisms for ensuring peace and stability in the CSTO area of responsibility, coordination of the efforts of the CSTO member states in fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as mutual efforts aimed at strengthening the anti-terrorist potential of the Rapid Response Collective Force, the President of Armenia expressed hope that the session of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs will also take place in the constructive atmosphere and the strategy for the CSTO collective security envisaged for up to year 2025 will be approved.
President Sargsyan stressed the importance of a consistent implementation of the principled agreements to take into account each other’s vital interests in different international platforms.
CSTO Secretary General reported to the President of Armenia on the issues to be discussed in the framework of the session of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and on the forthcoming CSTO programs and events to be conducted in the framework of Armenia’s presidency at the Organization.
The President of Armenia wished successful work to the participants of the Yerevan session of the CSTO Ministerial Council.
