The Government conducts active fight against corruption in customs sphere, but participation of non-governmental organizations and independent organizations is also important. Mr. Karen Manukyan, Chief of Shirak Regional Customs House, said today at the Anti-Corruption Event “Corruption Risks in Customs Sphere,” which took place today in Gyumri.
He believes that such meetings in this format would be effective in future. “Corruption is a morbid phenomenon; corruption is a universal phenomenon, evil for society, any public official, appearing in this situation, fall into this disease, I do not think that any person who is ill with this, is not willing to come out of it,” the Chief of Customs House said.
Expressing his gratitude to the participants, Mr. Manukyan said that this and further cooperation would be effective in the fight against corruption.
Mr. Armen Petrosyan, Assistant to the Governor of Shirak marz, in his speech highlighted the cooperation between the Marz Administration and the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, “The partnership established over the years has contributed to the reduction of corruption in the region,” he noted.
Ms Naira Gyulnazaryan, Coordinator of Anti-Corruption Projects of OSCE Yerevan Office, introduced the OSCE activities in this sphere and highlighted the “Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” Project.
Notably, the Anti-Corruption Event was organized in the scope of the “Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” Project with the financial support of the European Union and co-financed by the OSCE Yerevan Office.
