The US Ambassador in Armenia Richard Mills attended the demonstration of the work of 6 sapper dogs in the center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise in Echmiatsin.
The dogs were provided to Armenia in the scope of US Department of State grant and the private donations of US citizens, including the Armenian Diaspora. Slovenian International Trust Fund Enhancing Human Security (ITF) and Marshall Legacy Institute support to the implementation of the program in cooperation with the US department of State. In the scope of the grant and private donations a an expert-dog trainer has been invited from Bosnian Sapper Dogs’ Center, who will stay for 6 months in Armenia to support training of the Armenian dog trainers’ group, preparing them for demining works in 2016.
The dogs shall be on the balance of the Armenian Engineering battalion to participate in the demining activities in the South of Armenia.
