The Chief of the Nubarashen penitentiary, Ruben Stepanyan, has been temporarily relieved of his duties, as Iravaban.net learned from the Department of Justice.
“By way of the investigator’s motion, the duties have been temporarily put on hold,” stated the Press Secretary for the Department of Justice, Gor Ghlechyan. As to what matter of the case in which scope the investigation was initiated or which body conducted the preliminary investigation, Mr. Ghlechyan said nothing.
There are, however, indications that a criminal case was initiated due to abuses discovered at the Nubarashen penitentiary. No other details are known at this time.
