As it was reported, there are three candidates proposed for the Ombudsman’s post; Deputy Justice Minister Arman Tatoyan, MP Zaruhi Postanjyan and Advocate Narek Aloyan. In the interview with iravaban.net Arthur Sakunts told that first of all he pays attention to the procedure for nomination of the candidates.
According to him, there were some wrong approaches with regard to the candidates’ independence and popularity in the sector of human rights. He does not agree with the fact that the election of the candidates was done by the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly and not by the not by the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs.
However, according to Sakunts, the most suitable candidate to that post is Zaruhi Postanjyan taking into account her activities in the sector of human rights’ protection: Arthur Sakunts thinks that Arman Tatoyan is an educated specialist..
A. Saqunts mentioned in his speech that the newly appointed Ombudsman should refer to the violations against the Ombudsman institute, and the reasons for becoming “a defective personnel”, otherwise the situation will be continued and have negative impact on the institute.
