Samvel Hovhannisyan, the Deputy Chief of the RA Police came to public attention in 2015, after his famous press conference. Some media have described this conference as a historic one.
Mr. Hovhannisyan assumed the office in 2013. If he would have read the same error as he did during his press conference (adding one more zero to 13:000), then his assets in the declaration would have totaled to hundreds of millions. However, when assuming the office, the Deputy Chief of Police declared 14 million AMD, 147 USD and 182 euros. In addition he declared one flat and a garage, as well as two off-roaders: Mercedes-Benz S 320 and the Mercedes-Benz E 320:
After assuming the office his assets had a minor growth. They increased by only in USD and euro, totaling to 350 USD and 200 euros accordingly.
The official’s spouse Kristine Aslanyan, though does not work, but the declaration provided to the Commission on Ethics of High-Ranking Officials of Armenia shows that at the beginning of 2013 her funds totaled to 2 million AMD and 1500 USD, by the end of the year they decreased and became 1.6 million AMD and 1000 USD. Her funds remained unchanged in the next year as well.
