The preliminary investigation of the criminal case considered in the Special Investigative Service of the Republic of Armenia has confirmed that the citizen Edgar Harutyunyan, having been warned of criminal liability for false crime reporting, and realizing that he has provided false information, has made a false witnessing by unfairly accusing Edgar Alexanyan, senior investigator of General Investigation Department of Shirak region of the RA Police, of committing a grave crime.

In particular, E. Harutyunyan, when publishing his pre-trial testimony during the trial of the case of hooliganism with a weapon usage, considered by the Court of General Jurisdiction of Shirak marz, he has announced that the content of his pre-trial testimony, handwritten notes and signatures are forged.

During the preparation of materials in the RA Special Investigative Service, Edgar Harutyunyan, having been warned of criminal liability for false crime reporting based on Article 333 of the RA Criminal Code, has unfairly accused investigator Edgar Alexanyan of falsifying evidence in case of a grave crime, reporting that on 25 May 2014 he did not read the record of his interrogation as a witness.

The preliminary investigation in relation to the forgery of Harutyunyan’s interrogation protocol considered by SIS has confirmed that all the signatures, family names, as well as handwritten notes have been made by Edgar Harutyunyan in the report made by Edgar Alexanyan.

Edgar Harutyunyan has been charged under the requirements of Article 333, Part 2 (1) of the RA Criminal Code.

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed the indictment has been handed over to the prosecutor supervising the trial, in order to approve it and send to the court.

Notice: The person suspected in or accused of an alleged crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code in accordance with the Court’s verdict made effective.
