Today, the Court delivered judgment in the case of Perinçek v. Switzerland. The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) decided that the decision on calling the Turkish politician to criminal liability is in violation of Article 10 (Freedom of Expression) of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Note: Turkish politician Doğu Perinçek in Switzerland has described the Armenian Genocide as an “international lie” and was called to criminal responsibility in the court instances of Switzerland. In 2013 he appealed the court decision in the European Court of Human Rights and the Lower Chamber of the Court decided that the decision was in violation of the principle of freedom of speech.
