Today in parallel to the Government session a few dozen residents of the houses on Yekmalyan 4-16 were holding a protest action in front of the Government building. They reminded that for more than 8 years they had been living in rented appartments. “Our houses were destroyed as a higher public interest, saying that they will build a building, and we would live there, but it is already a couple of years that we are in the streets”, the residents were complaining.
They were demanding that Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan came down and answered to them, but as they saw that no official was approaching, they attempted to block Tigran Mets St. adjacent to the Government. Around twenty people gathered in the middle of the street, the police was trying to regulate the traffic. Protesters were approached by the Head of Department For Reception of Citizens and Discussion of Petitions Aleksandr Ghazaryan. After a couple of minutes of negotiations the residents left the carriage-way. Some of them entered the Reception of the Department, and the others gathered in front of the entrance.
