A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department on using violence against the police officer who was performing his official duties at the rally which took place near “Azatutyun” square.
On June 28, 2015 at about 23:30 a call was received informing that a citizen used violence against the police officer Gevorg Amyan who was performing his official duties at the rally that took place near “Azatutyun” square of Yerevan.
Through investigation the citizen was identified – A. Hakobyan born in 1993. According to the results of preliminary investigation he hit the police officer twice with his fist concerned with the performance of the latter’s official duties.
On June 29 a criminal case was initiated according to the Part 1 of the Article 316 of RA Criminal Code. On the same day the citizen Hakobyan was arrested on suspicion of committing the mentioned committal.
A. Hakobyan refused to testify and expressed a desire to have a public defender. On 29.06.2015 a decision on involving a public defender was made.
Forensic medical examination was appointed to find the nature and severity of the injury inflicted to the police officer.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
