A Training of Trainers was held in Kapan on 19 June 2015 in the framework of the “Influencing Women`s Rights Agenda” Project which is being implemented by the Armenian Young Lawyers Association with the financial support of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Republic of Armenia.
Through these Trainings young lawyers are being trained in 6-member groups, and after the completion of the trainings these young lawyers hold public awareness seminars and actions in public spaces, organizations and Local Self Governance Bodies on the topic of women`s rights.
The topics of the first seminar included the interactive training methods through which the Training itself was organized, and the women`s rights to property, including in the context of marriage, divorce and inheritance.
Legal adviser of the Project Ani Asatryan presented the topics, after which the young lawyers took part in practical exercises, discussed various cases and suggested possible solutions to those.
According to one of the participants – Milena Sarkisyan, the women`s rights issues in Armenia are more of a traditional nature rather than legal, and to fight against these issues the mentality of citizens should be influenced, and she highlighted the importance of such trainings as being efficient means towards that aim. The seminar was full of discussions and exchange of opinions.
