Om 12 May, a number of media circulated information that 18 or 20 women prisoners were poisoned in “Abovyan” penitentiary of the RA Ministry of Justice.
According to the Information department of the RA Ministry of Justice, on 9 May 2014, poisoning cases were recorded in “Abovyan” penitentiary of the RA Ministry of Justice. According to the information a number of women prisoners were examined and after that six women were isolated.
Currently they are in the infection department of the “Hospital for Convicts” of the Penitentiary and are ander the round clock control of the doctors. The health of three women is good, the condition of the others is considered as satisfactory.kThe prisoners’ health and life is in no danger. An investigation is in process. Samples of water and food of the penitentiary has been sent for examination.
