In one episode, Vahagn Vermishyan is accused of fraud.
According to case materials, he allegedly fraudulently embezzled 2.5 million drams from Zohrap Hovhannisyan.
Alexander Kochubayev notes that Zohrap Hovhannisyan is the son of one of Vermishyan’s relatives. Hovhannisyan called Vermishyan, saying he wanted to obtain a construction permit and needed a project.
Vermishyan said, “I can’t provide a project, but I know people who can do it. Only 2.5 million drams are needed for the design work.”
Part of the money was transferred to Gagik Panosyan, who proudly said, “We received an order from Vahagn Vermishyan; it’s a great honor for us.”
“Taking that $5,000, Vahagn Vermishyan transferred $2,500 to Gagik Panosyan. It’s important to understand a few things: before getting a construction permit, one must first have the building plan, and second, apply to the municipality for the permit,” said the advocate.
Vermishyan allocated part of the money for design work, after which he was supposed to complete the remaining actions, but he was arrested, and the process was suspended.
Vahagn Vermishyan’s advocate, Alexander Kochubayev, insists that his client did not allow corruption risks to materialize.
In our conversation, he also spoke about Vahagn Vermishyan’s relationship with Nikol Pashinyan, their debate that took place in front of a camera, emphasizing that Vermishyan, not being a member of the Civil Contract party but an invited specialist, hindered their desires to come to life.
Speaking about Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan, Kochubayev noted: “Mr. Martirosyan invested his professional potential in condemning Vahagn Vermishyan and terminates the victim’s powers, noting that the victim did not suffer any damage, yet finds Vahagn Vermishyan guilty of fraud.”
Despite the charges, the advocates insist that Vahagn Vermishyan is innocent and expect an acquittal decision from the Appellate Anti-Corruption Court on all episodes.
