Iravaban.net informs that the activities of the investigative units of the Investigative Department of the National Security Service and the functions assigned to them will be transferred to the Investigative Committee. This provision comes into force on 1 January, 2024.

It should be noted that earlier the activity of SRC investigation units was also stopped. It joined the Investigative Committee.

As stated in the rationale, such a structural differentiation of preliminary investigation bodies in practice leads to some problematic situations, in particular, the practice of conducting preliminary investigations by different bodies indicates that they do not have unified principles of organization and operation and work style.

In many cases, according to the executive, different approaches are taken on the same legal issues.

In addition, according to the rationale, around 90-95% of criminal cases have always been investigated by the Investigative Committee, and it is not possible to justify the idea that within the NSS and SRC bodies, structural units performing the function of preliminary investigation are needed.
