The Minister of Defense received the Newly Appointed Commander of the Russian Peacekeeping Forces in Nagorno Karabakh

On 28 April, RA Defense Minister Suren Papikyan received the newly appointed Commander of the Peacekeeping Forces of the Russian Federation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Colonel-General Alexander Lentsov.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin, attaché for defense issues, Colonel Igor Shcherbakov and the former Commander of the Russian Peacekeeping Forces in Nagorno-Karabakh, Major-General Andrey Volkov attended the meeting.

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia congratulated Colonel-General Alexander Lentsov on assuming the new position and wished him success during the peacekeeping mission.

The parties discussed the operational situation and existing problems around Nagorno-Karabakh and in the area of ​​responsibility of the peacekeeping troops, a number of issues aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the Russian Peacekeeping Mission in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia emphasized that in 2020 the need for the steady implementation of all the points of the tripartite declaration of 9 November and to emphasize the implementation of efforts aimed at the early unblocking of the Lachine Corridor.
