HRD visited Azerbaijani Servicemen Detained in the RA

On 16 April, Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Anahit Manasyan visited the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan detained in the Republic of Armenia.

“The Defender got acquainted with the conditions of the latter’s detention and issues related to ensuring their rights, including the right to health care.

During the private interviews, there were no complaints about torture, other forms of ill-treatment, including psychological pressure, by state bodies and officials.

It was recorded by the Human Rights Defender that the mentioned persons are provided with proper detention conditions, including constant drinking water, food, and hygiene items. As necessary, the latter receive medical care and service.

The doctor-specialist of the Defender’s staff was involved in the visit. The doctor got acquainted with the medical documents of the mentioned persons and the volumes of medical assistance provided.

The persons deprived of their freedom informed that they are familiar with the charges brought against them, they were provided with a free public defender, and the participation of an interpreter was ensured throughout the proceedings.
