Davit Gishyan was killed in captivity: Representation of the Republic of Armenia on international legal issues

Conscript soldier of the Armenian Armed Forces Davit Gishyan, born in 2002, has been killed in captivity, Hasmik Samvelyan, the spokesperson of the RA Representation on International Legal Affairs, said this in a conversation with “Armenpress”.

The body of Davit Gishyan was among the bodies of 32 Armenian soldiers which Azerbaijan returned on September 17.

On 13 September, from 00:05, the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces started to fire intensively from artillery means, large-caliber firearm weapons in the direction of Goris, Sotk and Jermuk in the direction of the Armenian positions. During the whole day, they tried to ensure positional advancement, particularly in the direction of Nerkin Hand, Verin Shorzha, Artanish and Sotk. On 14 September, the enemy resumed pre-offensive operations, particularly in the directions of Jermuk and Verin Shorzha, using also attack UAVs.

On 16 September, it was announced that the number of victims on the Armenian side is 135, there are many wounded. More than 10 servicemen are captured. On 17 September, Azerbaijan handed over the bodies of 32 servicemen to the Armenian side. Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, announced on 14 September that thanks to the involvement of the international community, it was possible to reach a ceasefire agreement.
