Today, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Artur Davtyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia Lynne Tracy.

The Prosecutor’s Office reported.

She was accompanied by Alexis Haftwan, Director of the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Drug Enforcement and Law Enforcement Cooperation, and Christina Hansel, the U.S. Embassy’s Human Rights Officer.

The RA Prosecutor General highly assessed the efforts of the US Government, personally the US Ambassador to Armenia, aimed at the deepening of bilateral cooperation in the legal sphere, developing the capacities of the RA Prosecutor’s Office in specific directions. In particular, consulting and technical assistance was provided to the introduction of the institute of confiscation of property of illicit origin in Armenia, as well as to the protection of human rights, illicit enrichment, the fight against cybercrime and other areas.

Artur Davtyan noted that the RA Prosecutor’s Office is persistent in returning anti-corruption assets, especially stolen from the state, to Armenia, and stressed the importance of deepening cooperation with the United States within the framework of mutual legal assistance.

Ambassador Tracey thanked for the meeting and for the opportunity to discuss issues of interest. She stressed that the 30th anniversary of the Armenian-American partnership is being celebrated, and conveyed readiness of the US administration to continue supporting the establishment of democratic institutions, the strengthening of human rights protection structures, and the efforts of the Armenian authorities in the fight against corruption.

During the meeting, the parties expressed their views and expectations on the issues of mutual legal assistance, investigation inquiries, extradition, assessment of the needs of the RA Prosecutor’s Office in the field of implementation of new programs and other issues.

Discussion on the issues of mutual interest took place on certain legal issues raised by Ambassador Tracy.
