Deputies propose to mark 27 September as a Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Attack, Deportation and War against the Civilian Population of Artsakh

Member of the National Assembly Elinar Vardanyan and Armen Gorgyan submitted a Draft on making Additions to the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Holidays and Remembrance Days”.

In particular, it is proposed to supplement the law with a new Article 13.3, which will define “27 September as the day of remembrance of the victims of the attack, deportation and war victims of the civilian population of the Artsakh Republic by the Azerbaijani mercenaries.”

The justification of the project states that the international community is not fully aware of the details of the war unleashed on 27 September, 2020 against the Artsakh Republic. Marking this day at the state level in Armenia, we send a message to the international community that we will seek to reveal all the details and to prove crimes against humanity and bring the perpetrators to justice in international courts, including the International Criminal Court.

According to the amendment proposed by the draft, 27 September will be the day of paying tribute to the victims of the attack, deportation and 44-day war by the Azerbaijani army and international mercenaries against the civilian population of the Artsakh Republic.
