On 16 January, at 07:25 local time (03:25 GMT), the seismological network of the Territorial Seismic Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia registered in the Azerbaijan-Armenia border zone with 39.14 north latitude and 46.52 east longitude. 12 km south-east of Kapan city, Syunik region, 10 km deep, 4.3 magnitude earthquake.

The magnitude of the earthquake in the epicenter was 5-6.
The earthquake was felt in the city of Kapan, Syunik region, in a number of villages with a magnitude of 4-5, in the cities of Vayk, Yeghegnadzor, Vayots Dzor region, in the city of Stepanakert, with a magnitude of 3-4.
