The Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia Simon Babayan participated in the working discussion on the topic “Devaluation of the institution of detention as a measure of restraint, violations of the procedure of “manual” signing of court cases and their elimination” organized of organized by the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights on 13 January.
The Director of the School of Advocacy, Ara Zohrabyan, the Deputy Head of the Public Defender’s Office, Armine Fanyan, MPs, incumbent judges and other representatives of the legal sphere attended the meeting as well.
Taguhi Tovmasyan, Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs chaired the dscussion.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia emphasized that today there are problems related to the exercise of judicial power and in case of maintaining the existing tools and mechanisms, the legal security of the country will be endangered. He stressed the need to solve the problems as soon as possible, noting that we will have thousands of judicial acts that are being questioned.
