Cooperation between government and civil society organizations is very weak at the moment.

Mr. Emin Yeritsyan, a member of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenian, President of the “Union of Communities of Armenia”, told in an interview with Iravaban.net .

“Consultative and advisory mechanisms do not work, in very limited cases there are some manifestations, which is very bad,” he said.

Emin Yeritsyan mentioned that both as the President of the “Union of Communities of Armenia” and a member of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenian, he has not received any invitation for discussion from the Ministry of Justice for a long time.

“As local self-government bodies, the sectoral ministries no longer convene meetings of consultative bodies, and if there is a consultative process, it is on our initiative. All areas ․․․ there is no response from the government,” Emin Yeritsyan said.

According to him, due to the lack of quality consulting decisions, the decisions made are one-sided, not high-quality. “These also have distinct consequences, because the adopted decisions and acts, are often contradictory now, sometimes to the legislation or the Constitution. There are many such cases, especially during the last two years. The laws are not refined, they are not harmonized with the related legislative acts. These phenomena have increased definitely as a result of not cooperating with civil society organizations,” Emin Yeritsyan said.

Notably, Iravaban.net has already referred to the veiled event dedicated to the judicial reforms of the Ministry of Justice and some civil society organizations that have become partners.

To recall that on 1 November, the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia (currently includes 71 civil society organizations) and the Armenian Lawyers Association published two joint expert studies on Integrity Checking and Responsibility of Judges under the extraordinary conditions (of transitional justice) and the Guarantees of Independence and Effective Functioning of the Court.
