The local elections were the most disgraceful elections since time immemorial: “Country to live” Party

The political council of the “Country to Live” Party has issued a statement, which says:

“Dear compatriots, media representatives,

In the elections to the Council of Elders held in the communities of Gyumri, Dilijan, Meghri, Tatev and Tegh on 17 October, the “Country to live” Party has passed the threshold and will be represented in the Council of Elders of the mentioned communities, recording the following results according to preliminary data:

Gyumri – 5.6%

Dilijan – 24.5%

Meghri – 9.8%

Tatev – 13.1%

Tegh – 34.9%

We thank the citizens who voted for us. We assure that with our work we will be responsible to serve the interests of the residents and the development of the communities.

At the same time, it should be noted that in all communities there have been numerous cases of abuse of administrative resources by various government officials, and the involvement of “local authorities” in the campaign and on the very the election day process reminded of the good old days – the next service to the next government.

The local elections were the most disgraceful elections since time immemorial. The whole election process was accompanied by pressure and threats against almost all the candidates of the party by the government, as a result of which 9 candidates had to withdraw from the election campaign. Threats against the population continued during the campaign. The transfer of citizens to the polling station on Election Day, the alleged bribery information, the presence of many people at the polling station in violation of the law did not allow citizens to exercise their right to free expression.

From the point of view of the Electoral Code, the data on the ballots were registered as a result of the elections, but based on the study of the whole process; the “Country to live” Party does not recognize the legitimacy of the government in Tegh community.

In Gyumri, Meghri, Tatev communities, the mayor will be elected by the members of the Council of Elders, on which the Party will additionally express its position.

We will continue our participation in the upcoming local elections, contributing to the development of our communities.”
