Former head of the information and public relations department of the Artsakh Armed Forces, Colonel Senor Hasratyan wrote on his Facebook page:
“Exactly 29 years ago, on this day, the Azerbaijani forces launched offensive battles along the entire Chartar-Machkalashen-Red Market (Karmir Shuka) defensive line. The advance of a large number of enemy rearguards was supported by more than a dozen armored vehicles, a re-equipped L-29 military training aircraft and MI-24 helicopters.
By choosing the direction of the main strike of the strategically important part of the Ghajar-Red Market, the enemy aimed to break through the defense of the Varanda Valley, then developing the advance to reach the capital by the Red Market-Sarushen-Shosh-Stepanakert, cut the south of Artsakh from the north.
