Nikol Pashinyan was not elected Prime Minister

At the special sitting of the National Assembly today, on 3 May, the decision to elect Nikol Pashinyan as the Prime Minister was not made with 1 for, 3 against, 75 abstentions.

It should be noted that the Prosperous Armenia faction did not participate. Lilit Makunts, the leader of the “My Step” faction, said that in order to dissolve the National Assembly and make it possible to hold extraordinary elections, the “My Step” faction will abstain from voting for the candidate for the post of Prime Minister.

It should be reminded that on 25 April, Citizen’s Day, Nikol Pashinyan resigned. After his resignation, the parliament will not elect a prime minister twice. Then the National Assembly will be considered dissolved, special parliamentary elections will be held. Elections in the country are scheduled for 20 June.
