Today, on 25 April, President Armen Sarkissian signed a new decree stating ․ “Based on Article 130 of the Constitution.

Accept the resignation of the Government.”

It should be noted that today Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in his message to the citizens that he was resigning.

He will continue to fulfill the duties of the Prime Minister.

“I considered it important to tender my resignation today, on Citizen’s Day. This is emblematic in a sense that in this way we are returning to the citizen the authority received from the citizen of the Republic of Armenia,” he said.

Pashinyan mentioned that he is resigning in order to hold early parliamentary elections; his political force, the “Civil Contract” party will participate in those elections, he will be the party’s candidate for prime minister.

It should be noted that in case of not electing a prime minister twice, the parliament will be dissolved.
