“Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan also visited the scene and got acquainted with the situation. At the moment, the issues related to medical care are coordinated on the spot by Deputy Minister Artyom Smbatyan.

“There are 3 ambulances on duty at 3 Rainis Street, and if necessary, they provide assistance to the citizens on the spot,” сhe said.

Notably, today, on 26 August, early in the morning there was an explosion in Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district, at 3 Rainis street. According to preliminary data, the explosion was due to a gas leak. The building has partially collapsed.

According to preliminary data, two citizens were pulled out from under the wreckages ․ 21 citizens were evacuated. Two injured were hospitalized in “Heratsi” N1 hospital complex.

One of the victims is a woman (born in 1949), according to preliminary data, she has fractures of the ankle, nose and bones, scratches on the body and face. She is currently being examined and the doctors assess the health condition as moderate.

The other victim, a man (about 50 years old), has extensive burns on his body and limbs, is in the intensive care unit, connected to an artificial respiration device. According to doctors, his health condition is extremely serious.

According to the Mayor’s instruction, the suffered residents will be provided with temporary shelters.
