Spokesperson for “Surb Astvatsamayr” MC Gorg Derdzyan reports “Recently, a four-year-old boy was admitted to “Surb Astvatsamayr” Medical Center. COVID-19 was detected, but the child did not have any symptoms. After 4 days of treatment, the child was discharged from the hospital after a double negative COVID-19 test and was taken home. Four days later, the child’s temperature rose and he was again admitted to the “Surb Astvatsamayr” Medical Center in serious condition. The child was diagnosed with Kavasaki syndrome (the first case).
Three days later, a pronounced tingling sensation in the neck muscles, erythema of the ribs, palms, face, abdomen, and swelling of the limbs and face developed at the child, and fluid had accumulated in the abdominal cavity. The child had a high fever for eight days.
After the negative results from coronavirus , the child was taken to the intensive care unit. During that time, the clinical picture was aggravated by abdominal pain and flushing, as well as pitch like excrement. A duodenal ulcer was found.
Against the background of the treatment received in “Surb Astvatsamayr” MC, the child’s condition has significantly improved.
Due to the fact that the child was diagnosed with several organ-system diseases during the illness, there were pronounced laboratory inflammatory indicators and previous COVID-19 infection, he was diagnosed with multisystemic inflammatory syndrome. The diagnosis was made according to the criteria proposed by the WHO. After being diagnosed with the disease, the child was transferred from “Surb Astvatsamayr” MC to “Arabkir-ICAH” MC (Institute of Child and Adolescent Health) to continue further treatment.
Hundreds of children in Europe and North America have been diagnosed with a serious illness linked to COVID-19 infection.
