We are looking for Ways to resolve the CC Crisis in an Other Way and Faster: Ruben Rubinyan

MP Ruben Rubinyan wrote on his Facebook page, “As it is known, the coronavirus epidemic will not disappear quickly. As we have repeatedly stated that public health is a priority for us, it is obvious that the referendum on resolving the crisis in the Constitutional Court cannot take place until the epidemic is gone.

However, on the other hand, we cannot wait so long to move forward with our reform and justice agenda without resolving the CC crisis. Therefore, I would like to inform you that, taking into account that the epidemic can last quite a long time, we are looking for ways to solve the crisis of the Constitutional Court in another way and faster.

In this context, the Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan recently addressed questions to the Venice Commission. These issues concern the rapid implementation of the 2015 model of the Constitutional Court, which was envisaged by the Constitution but not actually implemented, the definition of the Constitutional Court’s decision on the draft amendments to the Constitution, as well as the authority of the National Assembly to cancel the referendum.

Thus, the possible alternative way of resolving the crisis in the Constitutional Court may not be identical in its scope with the initial way, but it will be resolved in the same way, and it is not ruled out that it will happen sooner and without a referendum,” he said.
