Hraparak.am website has reported that Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Hayk Sargsyan is “involved” in the criminal case on receiving a bribe allegedly given to the head of the State Committee on Urban Development Vahagn Vermishyan, which was reported on February 5.

“Although Hayk Sargsyan personally denied the rumor in a telephone conversation with the journalist of the site, nonetheless, the misinformation was spread through the media.

We would like to inform once and again that Deputy Mayor Hayk Sargsyan has nothing to do with any criminal case, and especially with Vahagn Vermishyan’s case. We would also like to inform that despite the information in the above-mentioned material, Hayk Sargsyan does not coordinate or supervise the construction sector.

We consider the posting and dissemination of such materials about the Deputy Mayor as an attempt to tarnish the honor, dignity and business reputation of the Deputy Mayor and the City Authorities.

We urge the media to refrain from dissemination of disinformation material, and we propose to “Hraparak” daily to publish an equivalent denial in accordance with the requirements of Article 8 of the RA Law on Mass Media,” the statement reads.
