The Investigative Committee today issued a statement saying that in the scope of the criminal case instituted on the murder of soldier Vahram Avagyan of the Training Center of N military Unite of the Defense Army on 30 January, 2020, at around 1:15 pm, servicemen of the same unite Davit Arakel Movsisyan, Khachik Armen Gasparyan and Spartak Artur Avetisyan were arrested on the suspect of the murder.

Speaking to Iravaban.net Naira Harutyunyan, the Head of the Investigative Committee’s Information and Public Relations Department, confirmed that one of the three arrested was the son of former MP Arakel Movsisyan (Shmays).

The latter were arrested on suspicion of committing a crime under Article 359 (3) of the RA Criminal Code that is, “Breach of relations, prescribed by field manuals, between not subordinated servicemen.”

(Actions envisaged in parts 1 or 2 of this article, which caused grave consequences, are
punishable with imprisonment for the term of four to eight years.)

The preliminary investigation is under way.
