Statement of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport for Students who are on Strike

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia has released a statement expressing its readiness to discuss all issues of public concern.

“The draft law of the Republic of Armenia on Higher Education and Science is a working document. In the coming days, the Minister and other representatives of the Ministry will hold meetings with all interested parties. All topics of public concern will be discussed during these meetings. The agenda of the meetings will soon be decided,” the statement said.

Students of the Faculty of Armenian Philology and History of YSU have been on strike for several days, demanding the resignation of Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan, as well as against the new draft law on Higher Education and Science developed by the Ministry of Education and Science, according to which the teaching of “Armenian Language and Armenian Literature” and “Armenian History” subjects in universities will not be compulsory.
