“Yelk” Aalliance strongly condemns the arrest of MPs Nikol Pashinyan, Sasun Mikayelyan and Ararat Mirzoyan. We call upon the Armenian authorities to immediately release the MPs who are the leaders of the movement and can coordinate the actions of the people effectively, ensuring the peaceful process. Once again, we call on the authorities to show restraint and avoid violence.

“A number of citizens were apprehended by police forces during a rally in Yerevan today and MPs Nikol Pashinyan, Sasun Mikayelyan and Ararat Mirzoyan were removed from the place of the assembly. We consider the fact of depriving MPs by force and violence against citizens inadmissible. We urge the authorities to refrain from any violence, to exercise restraint, and to immediately re-enter the field of dialogue. Sober assessment of the situation and bilateral ultimatums can lead to a sharp increase in tension, which we consider unacceptable and full of with dangerous consequences for Armenia.”
