In the framework of monitoring of the fulfillment of Armenia’s commitments for the membership to the European Council, Emil Babayan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the RA hosted the delegation of General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union. The adviser of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, the director of political affairs Alexander Gessel, his deputy Daniil Khoshabo and political advisor Maksim Longango, were in the composition of the delegation. Mrs. Natalia Vutova, Special Representative of the European Union in Armenia, Mr. Armen Papikyan, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Armenia in the EC and representatives of the RA Prosecutor General’s Office attended the meeting as well.
The participants discussed the developments that took place after the visit of the Rapporteurs’ Group on Democracy of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers in March 2013, and the fulfillment of the commitments by Armenia from the aspect of questions raised in the corresponding report. The parties discussed different issues related to the activities of the prosecution office, progress referring to the alternative punishment issues, the academy of justice, and other issues.
