Head of the 3rd Unit of the Main Criminal Investigation Department of Armenian Police, Colonel Nelly Duryan came to Baghramyan Avenue. She had come here to talk to the children and to urge their parents to refrain from taking the children to the demonstrations in Baghramyan Avenue.
Nelly Duryan answered the questions of demonstrators and journalists. In reply to the question why they didn’t come earlier and got interested in the problem of minors attending the actions Nelly Duryan said that this is not the first day that she comes to Baghramyan Avenue. She had come to the Avenue in civilian clothes and that was the reason the protestors had not recognized her. She also said the officers of the division were carrying out duties just from the very first day of the protests.
Nelly Duryan could not answer the question why on 23 June a juvenile child of 11 and his mother were taken to different police departments. She said that she will provide the answer the next day on the telephone.
She also said that the weather conditions are bad for children and they should not be in the streets so late. Whereas the demonstrators assure that there is no threat to the children by their parents and they also can participate in the action. The protestors believed that the police had arrived to the Avenue to protect the children from the police.
Nelly Duryan walked in Baghramyan Avenue but she did not talk to the children, just the objective that she had come to the Avenue.
