It is called banditry. Head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili at a meeting with the regional prosecutor emotionally criticized their work. Today, a video of the meeting with the representatives of the prosecution system was posted in the Internet.
“When a businessman comes to our town first, this is what he gets from our law enforcement bodies: It is a letter from the prosecutor’s office that states to send the documents to them so that they would have the opportunity to file claims against the investor and then to arrest.” Then he stated, “This is called racketeering, my dear. Is banditry – a functional duty of the prosecutor’s office? This is called banditry and racketeering!”
Then he criticized the system of registration of rights to land and even frightened prosecutors. “I do not need explanations, my dear. I have seen all these. And I have seen such prosecutors. And later I met them in prison, by the way.”
Sahakashvili was rather harsh at the meeting and blamed the representatives of the prosecution office. “I shall not allow such arbitrariness; decide for yourself, you or permissiveness, or the Ukrainian people, or the criminal. I am not here to stand this criminal practice. This conversation will continue every day. Who thinks about ordinary people?! No one. I am declaring a war to such-like action. We are at war against corruption” he said.
