The RA Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan received the United States Ambassador in Armenia Richard M. Mills. The RA Prosecutor General congratulated the ambassador for being appointed in the position, and also expressed a hope that the collaboration between the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Embassy of the United States would be continued and become more effective and targeted. By the petition of the ambassador Mills the RA Prosecutor General presented the prevailing problems of the Prosecutor Gee Office system. G. Kostanyan ensured that the most alarming problems of the system continue to be the effective struggle against corruption and bribery, the exception of the impunity atmosphere, and the domination of rights and justice. The RA Prosecutor General also covered the role of the General Prosecutor’s Office, its rights and obligations in the implementation of the RA criminal policy. G. Kostanyan mentioned that in order to provide the transparent work of the General Prosecutor’s Office there will be parliamentary hearings about the annual report of the RA Prosecutor General to the RA President and National Assembly, and the RA Prosecutor General will present the results of the implemented work for the first time.
The ambassador confirmed the readiness to support the implementation of the reforms made by the General Prosecutor’s Office, focusing on the fact that they are also supporting the collaboration with practical and visual results.
An agreement was reached about constantly organizing meetings and consulting aimed at the specification of the fields and volumes of the United States Embassy support.
