NATO’s delegation is in Armenia from March 2 through March 6 to assess the documents on the Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Actions Plan (IPAP) and Planning and Review Process (PARP) for 2014.
On March 3, in the frameworks of the visit, joint session of NATO’s delegation and Interdepartmental Committee on implementation of Armenia-NATO IPAP was held.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ashot Hovakimian and First Deputy Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan delivered welcoming speeches. During the session preliminary results of the assessment of 2014 IPAP and PARP was presented by the sides. The progress reached in the implementation of the goals mentioned in the documents was stressed. Members of RA Interdepartmental Committee touched upon activities undertaken in the areas of their responsibility, existing problems and basic priorities.
Information. Armenia-NATO partnership relations develop through political dialogue over security issues, reforms in defense sector, as well as Armenia’s participation in international operations to establish peace in Kosovo and Afghanistan. Also close cooperation is established in strengthening democratic and civilian control and integrity of the Armed Forces of Armenia, as well as strengthening Armenia’s disaster relief and crisis management as well as emergency preparedness, in the framework of the Science for peace and Security programme.
