On 24 February, Head of European Union in Armenia, Ambassador Traian Hristea met with the representatives of Civil Society Organizations of Ararat Marz. AYLA member Tigran Matevosyan, Regional Expert/Coordinator of “Multifaceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” projects participated in the meeting as well. The meeting was organized on the initiative of the EU delegation in Armenia in cooperation with the Armenian Young Lawyers Association. Ambassador Traian Hristea said that EU objective was strengthening of the NGO sector in Armenia.
Mr. Hristea especially emphasized the importance of NGO – Local Self Government cooperation, which he considered would provide ensuring transparency of the activities. He also introduced the procedures of providing EU grants and the methods of implementation of the EU funded projects. Further the Ambassador answered to the questions of the participants, which referred to the issue of support and activization of the NGOs.
