Head of Erebuni passport department has been arrested

In accordance with Paragraph 2 of Part 4 of Article 311 and Part 1 of Article 314 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, Artyom S., the Head of the Erebuni passport department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia was accused of the fact that being an official fulfilling the functions of a representative of permanent authority, on August 2013 received a bribe in an essential amount of 4500 USD for committing an apparent unlawful action in favour of Albert S., particularly, granting a new passport in place of the lost one under the conditions of his personal nonappearance in the passport department. Afterwards, for self-interested motives, both he personally and through the non-official state employees under his subordination recorded obvious false information in the official documents regarding the fact of his location in the Republic of Armenia, his personal appearance in the passport department and registration in Erebuni military enlistment office. He executed false documents based on which RA passport was printed and granted under the name of Albert S. in violation of the procedure stipulated by the above law and the charter.

Iravaban.net learned from the Special Investigation Service of Armenia that an arrest as a measure of restraint was determined in respect of Artyom S.

A preliminary investigation is in process.

Note: The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
