The Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia launched proceedings on the criminal case instituted with regard to the commission of a robbery attempt by Grigor V. in accordance with Paragraph 4 of Part 2 of Articles 34-176 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
The preliminary investigation revealed that on October 26 2014 at about 23:40 Grigor V. attempted to obviously steal a bag and the mobile phone from the citizen Yepraksia T. at Tumanyan street, Yerevan, by way of exercising violence undangerous for her health but while escaping he was caught by the people who were on the scene of the crime and, hence, did not accomplish the offence under the circumstances regardless of his will.
The preliminary investigation also revealed that Grigor V. is a prisoner who carries his punishment in “Vardashen” Criminal-Executive Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia and was allowed to leave the territory of the Criminal-Executive Institution during the working hours for the period between 8.00 and 20.00, but the prisoner left the territory of the institution on a nonworking day and committed the above crime.
In addition, as per the data obtained in the course of the preliminary investigation the mobile phones of the prisoner were used outside the territory of the Criminal-Executive Institution during the other nonworking days, while no violations and imperfections were detected by the officers of the institution on duty as a result of the inspections.
An arrest as a measure of restraint was determined in respect of Grigor V.
