The Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia instituted a proceeding against the criminal case launched in the 7th Garrison Investigation Department of the Military Investigation Principal Department of the Investigation Committee of the Republic of Armenia in accordance with Part 1 of Article 183 and part 2 of Article 316 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
The preliminary investigation revealed that on December 5, 2014 at about 1.50 AM, the police employees of the Republic Armenia the Lieutenant-Colonel of the Police Surik Kh. and the authorized operations officer, the Senior Lieutenant of the Police Davit A., while executing their employment-related duties by their cars, noticed the crowded people in the busy part of one of the streets of Vanadzor city and approached them, during which the military serviceman of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Captain Sargis S. and his son argued with the police employees and committed violence dangerous for their health. In other words, they beat them and caused bodily injuries. Afterwards, Sargis S. stole the official car with no intention of stealing it. On the same day he left the car near the building located in one of the streets of Vanadzor city and ran away.
Afterwards, Sargis S. went to the military unit and some time later received a call and was asked by some strangers to leave the military unit. After that, a group of police employees dragged him out and beat him near the military unit. Thereafter, he was forcedly made to get into the car and was taken to the police department where they kept on swearing and beating him.
A preliminary investigation is in process.
Note: The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
