President Serzh Sargsyan met with the Head of Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Oleksander Pavlyuk, who is completing his mission in our country. Informs the Official website of the RA President.
The President on behalf of the Government and his name personally thanked Oleksander Pavlyuk, for honorably and successfully completing the period of his tenure of office, noting that there was a great responsibility on Mr. Pavlyuk as head of the Office of the Council of Europe. Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the next head office will continue his predecessor’s work with the same dedication and enthusiasm. The President noted that Armenia greatly appreciates and attach importance to the support of the Council of Europe to the ongoing democratic reforms in our country. According to the President, as prior to becoming a full member of the Council of Europe several years ago, as well as today, as a member of the Council of Europe, Armenia has access to the organization’s expert potential, which is essential for our harmonization of our country’s laws and practices with European standards, in terms of carrying out the specific and statutory obligations of Armenia.
Oleksander Pavlyuk,also considered the cooperation of the his office with Armenia during the past two years, emphasized the large scale work aimed at implementation of the Action Plan, and mentioned that in order to deepen and strengthen the democratic processes in cooperation with the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other interested departments the issue of elaboration of a new Action Plan for 2015-2017 is discussed.
The parties mutually mentioned that for the first time since becoming a full member of the Council of Europe, on 16 May 2013, assuming the Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe for the six-month period, Armenia successfully fulfilled its mission, which was positively assessed by the leadership of the Council of Europe.
President Serzh Sargsyan considered efficient cooperation with the Council of Europe due to the fact that the objectives of the EU and Armenia are completely the same.
President wished success to Oleksander Pavlyuk in his future endeavors and hope that he will take the best memories and will continue to be a friend of Armenia and the Armenian people.
