On November 5 in Moscow the RA National Assembly Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov met with the Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Narishkin. Information is provided by the Press Service of the RA National Assembly.
The NA Deputy Speaker touched upon the necessity of further development and deepening of the Armenian-Russian ally cooperation in all directions. He highlighted in particular the close cooperation of the inter-parliamentary committees, as well as the parliamentarians of the two countries in the international parliamentary platforms. The Speaker of the State Duma in his turn assessed the current level of the bilateral ally relations.
At the meeting the sides discussed issues concerning the process of ratification of the treaty on joining Armenia to the treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union. The NA Deputy Speaker expressed hope that until the sitting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council to be held in Moscow on December 23, the document would be ratified by the parliaments of the two countries. Sergey Narishkin expressed readiness to ratify the treaty of Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union within possible short term.
Eduard Sharmazanov has underlined that Armenia is exclusively in favour of peaceful regulation of conflicts. He has highly assessed the efforts of Russia, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair country, directed to the peaceful regulation of the NK conflict. The NA Deputy Speaker has considered inadmissible any effort of military solution of conflicts.
The NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov has noticed that Armenia greatly highlights the role and importance of the CSTO, particularly, the CSTO PA. He has expressed his concern that some counterparts sometimes do not defend the position of their CSTO allies. During the meeting both sides emphasized the partnership within the CSTO.
In his talk with the Speaker of the State Duma Eduard Sharmazanov has noted that the year 2015 sees the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. He has expressed hope that the Federal Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia and the State Duma will support in holding of the events.
