A three-day Anti-Corruption training in Shirak marz. The training is designed for the Civil Society and Media Organizations that work in the marz. “Armenian Yong Lawyers Association” NGO in Cooperation with the “Freedom of Information” NGO organized the training in the framework of “Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” project.
“You will obtain new skills and acquire new knowledge during this training,” Karen Zadoyan President of the Armenian Young Lawyers Association, “Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” Project Manger said.
Replies to a number of questions referring to the sphere of fight against corruption may be found in the training program. The participants are rather active in discussing the theme. They attach importance to unity in the struggle.
“In the framework of the project we have seen a number of problems, which may be solved by joint efforts,” Gayane Gevorgyan, Regional Coordinator/Expert of the “Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” Project said.
“Today, corruption occurrences exist in almost all systems. If people, inhabitants, public at large will unite and join the efforts in struggle, they will win,” Vehanush Hovhannisyan, President of “Meghvik” Children and Youth Non-Governmental Organization of Gyumri believed.
The schedule of the three-day training include principles of good governance, information about the notion of corruption, history of its development and reasons for its occurrences, etc. The participants got acquainted to the notion of ant-corruption public monitoring, methodology and international practice. The aspects and issues of the RA Government Program, Strategic Program of the RA Legal and Judicial Reforms 2012-2016, international experience and mechanisms of creating anti-corruption coalitions were discussed. The themes covering mechanisms and sources to receive information, and the rule and specifics of implementing journalistic investigation were included as well.
“If definite persons will be called to responsibility, naturally the corruption occurrences in our country will decrease,” Armen Gabrielyan, the Founding President of “Kantegh” Children’s and Youth NGO of Gyumri mentioned.
Ara Melikjanyan, President of “Logos” Non-Governmental Organization believes that, “The readiness of the upper echelons of the Power is critical in fight against corruption.”
“I think we definitely must work with them to reveal the sore spots of fight against corruption in the republic of Armenia and find common ways to solve this painful problem,” Svetlana Mkrtchyan, President of “Flora” Young Women’s Christian Association of Gyumri said.
CSO and Media Organizations, who have completed the training successfully, will have opportunity to participate in the tender for small grants to undertake monitoring, watchdog activities and journalistic investigations.
