As early as on 30 October, 2023, editorial office of Iravaban.net received an alert that a mass slaughter of dogs had taken place in the Martuni Community of Gegharkunik Marz. According to the whistleblower, he and his daughter take care of homeless dogs and provide shelter. He also informed that the “author” of the slaughter is Vahagn Davtyan, the Deputy Head of the Community.

The editorial office contacted the First Deputy Head of the Martuni Community, Vahagn Davtyan. He insisted that he was not engaged in the slaughter of dogs, and that he could not even use a weapon.

About 10 months have passed since the incident, but there is still no accused in the case. The RA Investigative Committee reported in response to the inquiry of Iravaban.net. In addition, within the framework of our survey, we also tried to find out whether the Deputy Head of the Community was questioned, what is his status, whether the killed animals were found, but the Investigative Committee did not provide answers to these questions.

Iravaban.net contacted the First Deputy Head of Martuni Community, Vahagn Davtyan, who said that he was interrogated in the Investigative Department regarding the incident. When asked what measures and steps were taken regarding this case, he mentioned that the municipality announced a tender again; the winning organization came, found it, and started its activities. Vahagn Davtyan insisted that there was no such incident in the community.
