I am the mother of two heroes: Captain Arthur Aghasyan and conscript Arsen Aghasyan. Mrs. Margarita Aghasyan, who was forcibly displaced from the occupied Republic of Artsakh told within the framework of “Immortal Victims of the Artsakh War” series of Iravaban.net.
Arthur was born on 7 April, 1998. He was a conscript soldier during the Four-Day April War.
“In May 2016, he was awarded the rank of senior lieutenant. During the four-day period, he kept his position unassailable. He was awarded the “the second-class Order of the Combat Cross” of the Republic of Armenia. And so he decided to stay and serve. He was a very patriotic boy with soul, heart and body. During the Four-Day War, he served for 7 months and was the senior of the position. He decided on his own, without superiors, without orders, that they should keep that position and they kept it with honor. They fought against “Yashma”. From 2016 to 2020, Arthur remained in the same position. He loved his soldiers very much. Money was not the issue. After April War, Arthur said, “Mom, that hell is still in front of my eyes, even though I killed enemies, but still, I am still in hell, I am living in it,” his mother said.
On 27 September, 2020, when the enemy unleashed a large-scale aggression against Artsakh, all three sons of Mrs. Margarita were in the positions. Arthur and Arsen were in Mataghis, and the middle son was in “Martuni 2”.
“On 27 September, I did not receive a call from my sons, I took my daughter, and we went to the village of Nngi to take shelter from the bombs, because the situation in Martun was terrible, they were shooting with different caliber bombs,” our interlocutor says.
She last spoke with one of her sons, Arsen, on 1 October. “I just asked him to call every day and that’s it. He promised, he said, “OK mom.”
Arsen was a wrestler. He connected his future with that sport. He studied in Yerevan, then returned to Artsakh to practice with Artsakh children after his service. Mrs. Margarita left the graves of her two sons in Artsakh.
“I overcame my fear and brought Arthur’s last uniform of an officer, Arthur’s and Arsen’s awards and Arthur’s Walkie Talkie, which was with him when he died. I brought that much with me from Artsakh,” she said.
During the war of 2020, Mrs. Margarita had a vision, but she did not tell anyone because people would think she was going crazy.
“It was a clear, blue sky and two coffins were swaying in the sky, and there were crosses on them. Arthur’s name was in my mind. I went outside, sitting under an apple tree, howling, and at that moment they hit Shushi from Akna (Aghdam),” the mother of the two heroes says.
