On 16 May, information was spread in the media that a tense situation was created in Aragatsotn marz. Teachers and students of Byurakan secondary school named after Hovhannes Tumanyan have announced a strike against the decision of the Governor of Aragatsotn marz to fire the director of the school.
It should be noted that there was also information that the director wanted to join the “Tavush for the Motherland” Movement, due to which there was a decision to fire her.
H.Tumanyan secondary school informed Iravaban.net that the principal’s desire to participate in the movement is not true, but there is a political context and intent. “The intention issued from the fact that in January, on Easter, when there was no electricity in the school and the heating system did not work, Mkrtchyan allowed the school staff not to come to work.
There was no one at the place of work due to the cold and the Governor’s Office decided to visit the school that day, as a result of which they recorded that Mkrtchyan was not there and reprimanded her. Mkrtchyan, taking the blame on her, did not appeal, but on Monday the reprimand was repeated on the same basis, this time the observation by the Regional Governor’s Office was at 16:40, the 12th grade students were getting ready for the last bell ceremony with the teacher, the staff was at school. Mkrtchyan had gone out to visit the home of a child with a problem. They called her, and she was present at the school in five minutes, but it was recorded that she was not there, she did not perform her work duties, and she was again reprimanded on the same basis.
We have learned from the sources among them that they want to dismiss Mkrtchyan, that is why the entire teaching staff and the students, are on strike, demanding the cancellation of the reprimand.”
We were told from the school that they have no information about a specific person who would like Lusine Mkrtchyan to be released from her position. “We are informed that there is someone they want to bring instead her.”
