The Ministry of Defense reported that on 7 May, around 2:00 p.m., the body of contract soldier Artak Avalyan (born in 1985) was found with a gunshot wound at security post of the N military unit of the Ministry of Defense.

An investigation is underway to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.

The contract soldier was from Azatamut village of Tavush marz. Iravaban.net learned from Azatamut village that the serviceman was married and lived with his mother, wife and 3 minor children. The youngest of the children is 4 years old, the eldest is 13. According to the information the details of the incident and the reasons have not been revealed. The case is under examination.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee reported that the body of Artak Avalyan, a contract soldier of the same military unit, was found with a fatal gunshot wound in the chin area in the basement of the combat position of the N military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense.

An inspection of the scene was carried out. An external examination of the body did not reveal any traces of violence. All servicemen and officers on duty in the combat position were interrogated. A forensic examination of the body was also appointed.

Urgent evidentiary and administrative actions are taken to find out all the circumstances of the case.
